The Storm

Chopin has great detail in her dramatic story of "The Storm." Every description has the reader on the edge of their chair wondering what will happen next. Alcee took complete advantage of the dreary situation and should be ashamed to have led on Calixta. Weather can have a huge affect on a persons feelings and Calixta was terrified of the storm and the safety of her husband Bobinot and son Bibi. She did not have that feeling of safety and comfort until Alcee came along and imaturally soothed her of her worries. It was almost a dream like story Alcee showed up out of no where and left soon after. Im sure Calixta wishes it was just a dream. Once Bobinot and Bibi came home safely Calixta was all affectionate towards her husband from feeling the guilt of what she just did. He husband will probably never find out but if Calixta has never acted this way around him he may become leary. Calixta has to live with the guilt of what happened for the rest of her life which can do great harm not only in her marriage but also mentally.
All in all this story was a well written abrupt love fling that keeps a wondering feeling. At time the story was hard to follow with her choice of words but i enjoyed it very much.
