Reaction to A Christmas Story

The story starts out in the middle of an interaction between two people which leads me to believe that they were attempting to have sex. It seems though that the woman is preoccupied by a new silo in their yard that could be dangerous and can't do it. Seems to me that the part with the empty bedroom with boxed up toys means that they had a child at one time. So by taking the plane down to the other farm the man was remembering the time with his son. So I believe that the couple was trying to conceive another child at the beginning of the story. This story seems to me to have parts where it allows the reader to sort of make their own assumptions as to what is happening.
