A Christmas Story

In the begining of this story I believe we have a husband and wife who are in a war. They are afraid and do not know what is going to happen next. They are afraid to go outside because they don't know what could happen. Just reading these first few sentances I am really confused. I am not quite sure what is going on but I can get a general knowledge. At the end of the story the man is reminising on the christmas when they had all been a family. I think that the family has some how lost their son or is losing their son. I feel they are scared because of what has happened. In the end they can always remember their christmas story.
